I believe it is the tech folder.

Also, I have saved the write up below (not sure if this is what you want):

Clearing the KAM and PCM

<?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com1</st1:NumConv6p0>) Flash truck back to stock (if have a tuner)

<st1:NumConv6p0 val="2" sch="1">2</st1:NumConv6p0>) Drive truck on highway and bring all systems up to driving temperature. Oil and coolant need to be hot enough to allow EGR operation. Shutdown truck.<O</O

<st1:NumConv6p0 val="3" sch="1">3</st1:NumConv6p0>) Disconnect both battery ground cables

<st1:NumConv6p0 val="4" sch="1">4</st1:NumConv6p0>) Turn on the headlights and let sit for <st1:NumConv6p0 val="30" sch="1">30</st1:NumConv6p0> minutes to delete KAM in the PCM

<st1:NumConv6p0 val="5" sch="1">5</st1:NumConv6p0>) Turn off headlights

<st1:NumConv6p0 val="6" sch="1">6</st1:NumConv6p0>) Connect batteries back up<O</O

<st1:NumConv6p0 val="7" sch="1">7</st1:NumConv6p0>) Cycle the ignition switch to the on/off position twice to allow the clear procedure to complete. Pause in the on position long enough to allow the start light to go out and then pause in the off position for <st1:NumConv6p0 val="10" sch="1">10</st1:NumConv6p0> seconds to be sure the PCM has gone to sleep.<O</O

<st1:NumConv6p0 val="8" sch="1">8</st1:NumConv6p0>) Start truck and let idle for <st1:NumConv6p0 val="5" sch="1">5</st1:NumConv6p0> minutes<O</O

<st1:NumConv6p0 val="9" sch="1">9</st1:NumConv6p0>) Drive it fairly hard (15 minutes)

All thats going to do is clear keep alive memory (KAM). The flash will remain the same. Be aware that doing this will also require you to "relearn" turbo and egr operating strategies.<O</O

Actually. anything over <st1:NumConv6p0 val="5" sch="1">5</st1:NumConv6p0> mins will erase the KAM (Keep Alive Memory). The capacitors are used to filter noise from the KAM (SRAM) power supply (VDD). The KAM is a SRAM instead of a DRAM, so refresh is not used.<O</O<O</O

Also turn the headlights on with the battery disconnected it will insure complete electrical drain.<O</O<O</O

The reason for the wait is due to the capacitors in the PCM discharging. If you disconnect the negative battery cable, and short it to the positive battery terminal, this should discharge these capacitors immediately.<O</O

Any time the batteries are disconnected, the PCM will throw the P<st1:NumConv6p0 val="1000" sch="1">1000</st1:NumConv6p0> code until the drive cycle is completed.

Basically you need to allow some miles so that the PCM will "re-learn" its adaptive technique.
<st1:NumConv6p0 val="15" sch="1">15</st1:NumConv6p0> miles of mixed driving *should* be enough in most cases.

Mark, That is a strange post, the thread stops at the end of your post.I was looking for the ignition sequence to get the computer to go through the turbo parameters.I have a new pcm that I want to get to know the ficm.

Yeah - cutting and pasting from Microsoft Word gives me strange errors, etc. Still haven't figured out why.

Is it simply (hope this posts correctly):

1) Cycle the ignition switch to the on/off position twice to allow the clear procedure to complete. Pause in the on position long enough to allow the start light to go out and then pause in the off position for <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com<font color=" /><st1:NumConv6p0 sch="1" val="10"><FONT color=black><FONT face=Verdana>10</FONT></FONT></st1:NumConv6p0><FONT color=black><FONT face=Verdana> seconds to be sure the PCM has gone to sleep.<O</O</FONT></FONT>

<FONT color=black><FONT face=Verdana>2) Start truck and let idle for </FONT></FONT><st1:NumConv6p0 sch="1" val="5"><FONT color=black><FONT face=Verdana>5</FONT></FONT></st1:NumConv6p0><FONT color=black><FONT face=Verdana> minutes<O</O</FONT></FONT>

<FONT color=black><FONT face=Verdana>3) Drive it fairly hard (15 minutes)</FONT></FONT>

Hey brickie, sounds like you're running again, That is excelent news.

Cartmanea: This can be required for several reasons, in brickie's case (as he said) he is installing a new PCM which means all the learned parameters in the PCM are default values so he is effectively initalizing the PCM and starting fresh so it learns and adjusts values for his truck and his driving style.
I have had to do it several time to get tunes and reflashes to work properly.

I've had to do the TorqShift relearning, how does it know which one you're doing or does it relearn everything at once?

It does everything at once, it is not a selective process where you can choose which module you're teaching

So in the VGT instructions it says to drive it hard, but in the TorqShift relearn it says to do 3 takeoffs at low, med, and full throttle. Seems to me these are two fairly different cases. Looks to me like you're best off just driving it normal and letting it relearn everything. Just don't do it in town cause I found out the stop and go really confuses the tranny, I had to take it out of town where I could get it up to speed and not do short 1 block jogs.

X is on the money. It was a pain in the azz but my truck has never run so well.I hope I don't have to pull the motor for years, the pull the gearbox and transfer case thing so the clutch can come out to pull the motor was not the most fun I ever had. Looking at it from the drivers seat it was worth every minute. Thanks for the help FTE..
