In the communications setup try these settings:
non-OBDII only and J1850 PWM.
Then try different USB connections on your laptop/pic. My older AE versions get a little touch with the high speed USB ports.

already tried all that. they make the most frustrating product ive ever used so far! they emailed me thesame codes that i am using now that the things not working, even tho it says my enhanced ford is activated.

Try wiggling the USB cord on the computer side, if the computer is on the old side and you use the USB a lot they can become finicky. If I don't rest mine just right it won't read the truck. Good luck and hope that helps.

From what little I've used AE, I can honestly say I don't like it. It hangs, crashes and is generally buggy.

So you were able to get updated to the latest version and still go with no dongle? I have an early version as well (V 7.3) and if it can be upgraded without the need for a dongle that means I only need one USB port which opens the door to a lot of different Windows devices.
