It worked yesterday, never worked today. Tried working the parking brake but that didn't make a difference. Took it by the dealer and they will probably replace the camera when I take it in next Wednesday.

Got the truck back. Computer had stored some error codes so they replaced the camera. Hopefully that was the problem.

Camera stopped working. Luckily I was able to stop at the dealer and they were able see that it was acting up. Definitely has something to do with the parking brake. When I applied it and released it several times the camera would flicker and even started to roll a few times. Went black and would come back on. Made another appointment.

I'm having the same issue with my truck.

Can someone please post where the connector is located near the parking brake? I have almost zero faith in the dealer near me.

I saw on another forum that it was "Connector C 210" that is commonly an issue near the parking brake - however - I forgot my password and got locked out of the forum, so I couldn't post for a picture.

If anyone can post a picture of where that connector is, that would be fantastic. Many thanks in advance!

This is the connector I removed from the parking brake bracket, unplugged, plugged back together then wire tied the connector up from the parking brake bracket. I located this picture from a different thread, hope it helps. I was also running into the airbag light flashing when releasing the parking brake along with other random errors here and there. All of this occurred when releasing the parking brake.

My dealer has not been much help. They wanted to blame and questioned the install of my light bar and questioned the rear airbag gauge. They implied the airbag gauge was something tied to a tuner. Then they tell me about the possible charge per hour that would be incurred if they find something due to the install. Seems they would try to get out of doing the right thing when looking for this issue.

So far so good and I hope this fixes it.

Fixed it!

I was having the same issue. Intermittent working of the backup camera that I could fix (or break) by using the parking brake. Had to take the truck into the dealer when my 350 went haywire electrically, so I showed them this thread.

Comment I received from the service rep and the tech: “this is the first time a customer has suggested a fix from the internet and it actually worked! There are about 59 pins in that connector, so your electrical issues may have been caused by the same thing. We sprayed it with electrical grease, and haven’t been able to duplicate any of the problems since.”

This saved me about $850 as they were suggesting I replace the backup camera. They worked the other issues under the engine warranty, so a week in the shop is only costing me $109.

I know this thread is already over two months old, but I am currently having the exact same problems with my '16 SD. It's at the dealership as we speak for the second time this month. I use the E-brake religiously. I have left an voice mail with my Service Advisor & will let you know what happens!

Thank you guys for being so awesome!

(This may have nothing to do with your problem, just throwing it out there.)
Mine went down today and I read this and stepped on parking brake and released it with brake on and all better.
i did go under parking brake pedal and check visible connectors. But all good thank you much

Glad to hear that the forum came through for you! It took four trips to the dealership for me, but they finally found a bad pin connector and fixed it, all under warranty.

I will add this, the pigtails for the outfitter switches are right there too & they made it clear that if I had already wired anything in, then they would have blamed that and denied the warranty claim.

I do have upfitters pigtails used for #3 for
LED raptor grill lights. That is BS with the dealers. They’re just lazy.
I Luckily I have a good friend and tech at my dealer. 25 years plus. If I asked him to look at the camera but to look in brake pedal area he would and not blame a customers use of wiring.
