Today when I was merging with traffic and had to jump on it to get out of the way of heavy traffic I experienced a flat spot during acceleration. I had to take my foot of the pedal and when I pushed it again the flat spot was gone but a cloud of blue smoke came out of the tail pipe. Is this a sign of a bad injector or a clogged EGR valve? I would appreciate your input.
We have no EGR valves. Was your truck warmed up when this happened? If it was cold and the exhaust back pressure valve was closed it could cause a problem like this. Any idle issues? Access to a scanner that can do buzz or cylinder contribution tests?
No on the EGR valve for sure since we don't have one. How many miles on the truck. Have you changed your fuel filter lately? Any oil inside the fuel bowl?
I was driving about 15 minutes. The engine was reasonably warm. I have not checked the fuel filter lately. I need to do that. As to the scanner, where do you plug it in? I have one for the car, will this work?

It plugs in on bottum of dash pass side of hump or stick shift if manual. I couldnt tell you if the scanner will work if it is OBD 2 it should.. Just depends on what years it covers. I had mine scanned at Ford for free, but i dont know if they do that for everyone.

Most scanners dont work in our PSD, it has to have the specific ford PSD bundle (spl?).
I just checked the fuel reservoir and it had clean fuel in it. The fuel filter was changed about 3,000 miles ago. The scanner that I have will not plug into the connection. The truck has almost 160K.
