Ignition Lock Cylinder Cut letter
My question is this: What does it mean by Cut Letter A, B, C, and so on...
I don't know which one to purchase. Please help me with this weird confusion.
What does "Cut Letter" mean, and how I am supposed to know my cut letter?
I never heard of 'cut letter' either, but regardless, why replace all the other door locks too?
the original key also locks the glove box compartment and the two under-the-front seats drawers/compartments, so you still end up having to carry two keys unless you change those too.
take your Aero key to a locksmith, he'll i.d your key code for you and and can set u up with cylinders keyed the same for everything in your rig. or you can order a universal cylinder and stack your own tumbers to fit your present key.
1989 FORD AEROSTAR 3.0L 182cid V6 MFI (U) OHV_Ignition Lock Cylinder Diagnosis and Part Selection Advice:
Apparently as it may seem, the "cut letter" is notoriously and "secretly" encoded on one, or two, of the cut bumps or crevices on my embarrassingly warn down key.

My ignition lock cylinder is about to expire, and the door locks require fiddling with the key to get it to work. I do not have any options on my Aerostar, so the glove box and the under seat drawer does not have a lock.
I just what to know my "cut letter" on the cheap without a locksmith referral.
