I have a 2000 ford excursion limited when i drive a loud clunking noise comes from the front end, so i pulled the front passanger tire off and realized what looks like the axel bearing behind the hub assembly is ratteling around. I was wondering if anybody knew what part that it is or if anybody had the same problem. I am going to post a picture tomorrow in the day light. If anyone has anything thaty can help that would be great.
Hello Steve,
That hub/bearing unit is a one piece unit. When the bearing goes bad you have to replace the whole unit. Probably about $600 for the part. Have you serviced the ball joints recently? I put a Dynatrac free spin kit on my Excursion when the ball joints needed replacing. Cost a bit, but when I recently replaced my bearing again it cost me $27.
Not nearly $600 if you go to autozone, advance, o'riellys, etc. Timkin probably the best, but others not bad either. Most likely it is your hub bearing assembly. Change now before it ruins you disc too! Good luck
