expedition 5.4 blown engine...

expedition 5.4 blown engine...
I have an 99 expedition with the 5.4 engine in it, but it is blown... I have a ford 4.6 engine available to me, and I know that both engines were used in the expeditions, but arte they interchangable? can I change out the 5.4 engine with the 4.6 one, or is it going to be more trouble than it is worth?

Yes they are basically the same engine. Are they directly interchangable, not sure!?! I would guess the fuel and spark maps would be slightly different. I'd hold out and try to find a 5.4. Sell the 4.6 possibly to fund the 5.4?!?
