I have a 94 f250 and my drivers side power window will go down and you can hear the motor running to put it up but it won't go up without assistance. From poking around online most say if you can hear the motor running it's not the motor. I also saw something on hear about some shims that protect against the motor shutting on hands and fingers. Is that the likely cause or is there some other gear that may have failed. Suggestions?
There's a gear inside the motor that has failed. You can get the rebuild kit at the Ford dealership.
Thanks, any idea how much the kit costs? I've noticed quite a few motors on ebay and such pretty cheap. Does it make more sense just to replace the motor?
I wouldn't. Cheap aftermarket motors don't last as long and all you need is the kit. Not sure how much it costs but Ford used the same power window motor from the 50's until recently. I don't think they're expensive at all.
