I agree, but I don't think it was cummins not marketing the things, but rather the US market not being big on diesels until recent years. Think of all the cool, fast diesel cars they have in Europe & other places that we don't get here. Stuff like a Ford Fiesta with a diesel that is actually quick and gets 40 mpg. The US market is just now starting to see enough interest in diesels to get manufacturer's to build them & sell here. The VW TDI are some of the 1st of "newer" era diesel we get to see.
Part of the problem is people are uninformed & see diesels as dirty engines due to "all that black smoke" coming off the big rig next to them on the highway. The greenies are pushing for cleaner air & environment & people see black smoke & think "dirty" without really knowing.
you bumped a 2 month old thread to ask about an 80's truck in the 70's forum? Use this thing called google and find yourself some shops, then email or pick up the phone and call them to see if they can do it. If you are close to destroked or fordcummins they could do it. I'm sure whatever shop does it will charge several thousand dollars, and, quite frankly, the 80's trucks are worth less than that even in fantastic shape, because they are ugly pieces of crap. lol
You are just a ray of sunshine! I turned to the forums because I have exhausted the normal practice of calling around to find a shop. There is NO one that I can find that will do it.
Sorry about the 70s and 80s thing. I am new to this forum thing. My previous experience was favorable, but I did not expect such a short note of dismissal from some know-it-all. Sorry I scratched your sorry, thin skin.
