Hey guys I posted about this in the superduty section then realized I should've put it here. Im thinking about buying a 2000 V10 with 130000 on it. When I went to the dealer to listen to the truck I noticed a noise in the engine. It was still there after the engine was warm. The town I live and work in is mostly a GM town so I dont work on many fords. (Im a mechanic at my local garage). My dad had an 06 f150 with the 5.4 and it was a really noisy engine. To me the noise almost sounds like a main knock, but it doesnt get louder as the rpm's increase. I didn't know if I should pass the noise off as a common ford noise or not? Any help would be appreciated, I just don't want to buy a truck with a bad engine.
I checked the studs and some are broke off. I just don't know if that's all the noise is? It doesn't really sound like an exhaust leak. But I admit I'm not one to know alot about the ford Triton engines
Pass on it.....that's some miles with average care. Look for a '05-'10, mine is very quite.
This what I think too. If money is your limiting factor then its tough but you could be into more money later with that truck anyways. Save up for something better.
