Just purchased a 1986 bronco II. The engine in it is a 1994 351w. The engine turns over with no problem but I constantly have to throttle to keep it from stalling. What's going on? Btw, new spark plugs, wires, and Im pretty sure the fuel lines are good, but I don't know.
I bet that is a running son of a gun when you finally get it on the road. I hope the PO knew what he was doing when he put it in. My first suggestion is to get the codes read. Let the codes tell you how to proceed. Let us know. And welcome.
I'd start with cleaning the idle air control valve along with the MAF sensor (unless the 94 is still SD). Do a search of this forum and there are a ton of threads on this same exact probblem.
Also, if still EFI, check that the vacuum pipe is connected to the fuel pressure regulator (FPR). If it is pull the vacuum pipe and check for any signs of gas in it, if any found replace the FPR.
Well so far I checked all I can. The iacv along the maf is clean, the fpr was clean but replaced anyways. The fuel pump & filter was replaced. The icm (ignition control module) replaced. All fuel injectors are working. Im still looking but I dunno...
