Ok I have an 1989 F-150 with a 302. I got it a few months ago and I can't figure out why it doesn't want to run right. I paid 500 dollars for it and it was running good. The engine was so dirty I couldn't see the spark plugs so I washed it off. And now it will start and that is it, It misfires and and runs real ruff. I put plugs, wires ,TPS o2, everything in the dist, mass air flow, . I have checked all the vacum lines. Does anyone have any Ideal what to do next. Oh and I put all new fuel pumps in it also. Thanks jake
dumb ? did you put the wiring order correctly, when i got mine it was off and i fixed them and it runs a lot better... also mass air sensor??? i dont think your truck has one..... BTW i drove past dion's house the other day, and wow it is a big son of a gun!!!!!!!!!!
Maybe you got a little moisture in the distributor. Spray a little WD-40 in it and see if that helps. I chased a problem on my old Jeep 304 for a few days and that was the answer.
Ok everything the distributor cap ,rotor, wires, plugs, everything has been replaced, The first thing I checked was the firing order. Fuel pressure is 40psi. I was messing around with it Friday and if I remove the vacuum line from the MAP sensor it will idle good but when you try to give it some gas It tries to die. And if I hook the vacuum line back up it dies. I am wondering if i missed up one of the sensors and which one it would be ?
