Who knows ford better then ford? Use Ford parts... lets see you put some champion plugs down in a 5.4L 3V and see how long before they begin to miss. MOTORCRAFT. If it were a GM product then I'd say go right on ahead and use anything else, but Ford unlike acdelco actually builds its parts to work better, and put sometime into the engineering of them.
Ford subs out parts and especially filters just like everyone else, their oil filters for example are purolator, which I believe are traced back to Bosch which supply a lot of pieces for Ford and other manufacturers. Visteon comes to mind as one of the former big companies who made a lot of the stuff for Ford and was actually owned by them over 10 years ago but no longer thankfully.
I always use MC oil filters and MC oil, because they are low priced if bought from Walmart. Walmart always has a good supply on hand. SO MC items are
worth buying for this reason.
I do feel that Wix makes good fuel filters and easy to find also.
I have also used Wix auto tranny filters with good results.
I prefer using MC air filters too.
With any filter, changing them in frequency/routinely is the key.

Actually that is very untrue. I know because I've worked in this area many of times... Motorcraft Oil Filters are recommended because they have a flow back valve on them, and most of the other brands do not. You can pretend that Bosche is ford parts all day long, but that is very very untrue. Motorcraft is FORD, its built by Ford and not just some relabeled garbage. I don't know where you read that but if you do your research on the internet, and even on other forums people actually have confirmed these other brands being the leading problem with a lot of the 5.4L 3V's issues.
As for being over priced? The oil filters from Motorcraft are actually cheaper, and some of the parts are cheaper to especially if you don't go to the dealership for them. I owned a 2004 Ford Ranger I used a fuel pump made by a different company when my kicked the dirt. It lasted a year, before it went out so I got a new one under warranty that one same story a year, I got a motorcraft one spent a little extra money the newer owner of the truck who happens to be my neighbor has been driving it 3+ years without issues...
Ford knows its stuff more then any other company, use ford parts or spend more cash in the long run replacing those parts when they defect out.
I get a kick out of seeing people talk all sorts of crap about something that they actually know nothing about, or atleast they make it seem that way. Some in this thread have it right, if you drive a ford, then stay with ford parts and yes that includes MOTORCRAFT. Not calling anyone stupid but it amazes me that many are fooled by what they hear on ads from other spark plug manufacturers. I guess some will never understand the rights with in copyrighted protected things, sure others can produce a plug that is close to the one for your ford but due to CR issue/s they are not 100%, to get your 100% plug, you would need to stay with a motorcraft plug. This goes on for just about every part you can buy, a company can get right to reproduce but within the paperwork and of course COPYRIGHT protection, the said part is off slightly no matter if we are talking plugs, coils, injectors or what have you. When I bought this 98 expedition, I wanted to slap the prior owner for he had bosch plugs in there, no wonder it ran like ****, plus he may of been too lazy to gap them for it is a reason many get them.

Agreed 100% Ford is very picky about what you use on it... The 5.4L 3V is the worse one out of any of them. If you use cheap parts its not gonna hold up. Motorcraft is FORD, not bosche under a different name, not purolator, or any other brand, its Ford. I've actually taken an oil filter apart from both companies and the difference is just awesome you can see why Ford recommends it oil filter, and I believe there is a picture of comparison's floating around here specific to the 3v motor.
My CV Axle on my truck is a prime example. I bought a cheaper CV Axle from Auto Zone. A few weeks ago I tore my truck down to put a level kit on it, and put new parts on the front end, upon removing the side with the new cv axle the knuckle was seperated meaning I was driving around with the knuckle in that cv axle not even attached to nothing, luckily I hadn't needed 4x4 because then I'd of really known it. Replaced with motorcraft the difference in the part was about 10lb's of weight vs the el cheaper junk, the boots were better constructed, and no this was not a remanufactured part this was a brand new cv axle from autozone.
I had a 87 turbo coupe and when I did the plugs I was talked into bosch plugs and its like the motor new I went through 3 different brands I was convinced the motor was toast. I had a friends father a mechanic at a local Ford house tell me tp go back to motocraft. When I did it ran great.
If it isnt an actual FORD/MOTORCRAFT part that has ford/motorcraft somewhere on it, its from a licsensed group that makes the given parts for them which this isnt nothing new, every manufacturer out there does this.
Even if it does have a Ford part number on it, that doesn't mean that Ford makes it.
While I will be the first to agree that using Ford/Motorcraft parts is 90% of the time the best bet it is silly to make that a blanket statement when you can buy the exact same part for less.

wow, even looking at what you said, true for Ford may not of made the part but in most cases its by a licensed party and not some company that got the rights to make a part which in many cases that part fails too soon.
