Hey guys hope someone has a suggestion for this problem. I have a 79 f250 4wd drivetrain and chassis 400 and c6 automatic. the body was gone so I got a 81 f150 rust free body and set on it. It looks sweet. The question I have is the 400 was recently rebuilt and has a new edelbrock intake and carb but the kick down rod is not even close to fitting. Is there a such of a thing is a generic kick down cable I can get for it and if so how the heck do you adjust it. Im scratching my head on this one. Been to the salvage yard and got a couple of different rods and none close. The trans was just rebuilt when the motor was done and I dont want to continue to drive it without the kickdown rod. Any help or advise would be great. Thank you.
It wont hurt the trany with it not hooked up. I drove my 79 bronco 15 years with out one,you just won't have a kick down, which you may want. You will most likely have to extend the rod to fit your carb. I had the same carb on a 460 in my bronco, never needed the passing gear with the extra H.P. the 460 put out,so just left it off.
