Next question - two holes in the lower bracket, two cuts in the upper retainer bracket. Am I missing something? Did these come with another tool in there?
That was a good question and I wondered the same thing myself.
Mine were never used and were mounted on the insides of the fenders. I had to shoot pb blaster on them to get the nuts spun off with a pair of channel locks. Rust can be evil.
You should have a bottle jack mounted over near the battery on the passenger fender too.
I took mine off of my inner fenders and put them in my bed mounted toolbox because if the time came I needed to use them I wouldn't want to fight the things to just get them out.
Jack and rod are both intact. The PO had my F100 less than 2 years, and bought it from the original owner. When I opened the hood and tried to determine if there was an engine under all that gunk, I spotted the jack right away, and the seller said he'd never noticed it. I cleaned it up and it actually works pretty good.
that's great....I was wondering the same thing on my 82' f100. I have the bracket on the battery side fender for the jack...but no jack. Anyone know where to find one?
I sometimes use that extra spot on mine for a 1/2" breaker bar. It works much better than the lug wrence. I carry the socket and extension that I use with it in my under-hood tool box. I usually only put it there when I go camping, or take the truck on a trip.
