My 2000 Explorer's rear window spray quit working. The windshield spray works fine and the tank is full. I have ran the rear window wiper wash cycle with the hose disconnected to see if the spray nozzle was plugged. No Fluid. I have ran the system to see if any fluid was leaking on the supply line and I do not see anything on the garage floor. Can anyone explain the method in how the the rear supply line gets its fluid and is split from the windshield spray that is delivered to the front wipers versus the rear wipers. I am new to the Explorer forum, because I have not had any issues with this vehicle. I spend most of my time on the 6.0 forum. I am sure that someone in the FTE community wil have an anwser for this problem.
Do you hear the washer pump working when you try to use the rear washer? If so, you might have a kinked hose for the washer. I ran in to this on one of my prior Mountaineers (I don't recall if it was the 2000 or the 2004). If I recall correctly, the washer on the 2000 was incorporated in to the wiper arm whereas on the 2004 it was
part of the CHMSL assembly. If my recall is correct, the kinked hose was on the 2004. I cut about 1 inch of hose out and that removed the kink.
If you don't hear the pump running, then the issue may be with the multifunction switch.
I will try to listen for the pump this evening when my wife brings the explorer home. Is there a separate pump for rear washer? Or is there a diverter switch from the front to back? Multifucntion switch?
