Blew od out of my 03 350 4wd & sticking in a Ford reman. Need to know if there is a tool to remove the 14mm nuts off of the torque converter. Im not having good luck getting on them with a flex socket. Really crappy access. Ready to take the gas hatchet to the torque. HELPPPPPP!!!!
Do you have access to air tools? You can either access it through the engine block on the driver side with an air ratchet and a deep 9/16" (14mm is too tight), or go through the access at the six o'clock position with a shallow 1/2" drive 9/16" socket, shortest possible 1/2" drive extension (about an inch to inch and a half depending on the depth of the socket used) and hand ratchet. BTW, there are six torque converter nuts if you didn't know already. Also, new nuts are recommended with the install. They are a lock thread type fastener. Another helpful hint. The starter does NOT need to be removed to remove the transmission on this truck. You can even use the starter to turn the engine over as you remove each of the six nuts, to save you the hassle of trying the spin the engine over by hand.
M-chan, thanks. I went out to my shop & looked for the hole before I headed our this morning. I don't know how I missed that. It'll be much easier nailing those tight suckers with an impact.
