trans temp?

I have 2002 f-350 7.3, what is the average temp that my trans should variate between? what is way to hott?

80-100* above ambiant air temp...

Stop and go traffic you will see the high end of that or more.

235* is the area I will pull over and let things cool down.

Using an Edge CTS engine monitor I noticed on a trip in South Carolina in 70 deg. temps cruising at 75mph (no towing) my tranny temps were around 160 deg. and the oil temp. was 204 deg.
Cooler temps outside means cooler tranny and oil temps.
