EBPS, Should have left it alone
Cracked my EBP sensor last time I had it out but didn't break it. Didn't have a 1" deep well (to many tools at work when I need them at home) so I used a wrench at an angle, not a good idea if you get in a hurry.
So today I think now that I have a socket I'll clean it up and put some epoxy on the plastic to keep moisture out. Sure enough I break it trying to get it unplugged.
Can I run the truck till the new one gets here? What can I expect to see if I do? What systems does it affect?
Thanks,
Disconnect the sensor connector. Remove the 2 bolts that hold the bracket to front cover. Remove the bottom of the tube at the exhaust manifold. Then pull the whole thing out as one piece - tube, bracket and sensor. The only drawback is that you need to clean the sealant off the front cover where you removed the bracket (the bracket is also the HPOP drive gear bolt access cover) and use some RTV to reseal the bracket/cover on re-install. But this method does make it easier to get the sensor out of the fitting on the bracket and the tube off the underside of the bracket.
I have since bought an HPOP drive gear bolt access cover and separate EBPS bracket from DP. LINK Pricey but makes it much easier to get the whole assembly off and on. Just loosen the 2 bracket bolts enough to slide the bracket up and off. And the new cover comes with o-ring so no need to use RTV.
