I don't know if you're still looking for colors for your engine/transmission. If you are maybe I can help you out. For the tranny, one of my '47 pickups was well-worn primer while the other was blue; I don't know which is correct. Now the engine SHOULD be a medium blue called (today's name) Old Ford Blue. It's a tad lighter than Ford farm machinery blue. Plasticoat has an excellent match. I have to add that there is a bit of a descrepancy with the engine color as '45 was still a year primarily slated to war production. Now this hasn't been confirmed completely so you can take it with a grain of salt but I understand that war production was using a pale green, akin to a seasick person's face for all their engines. I've seen Ford flatties, GMC 6 cyl. and Detroit Diesels out of war vehicles and they were all painted that ugly green. I've also seen a '45 Chev 1 1/2 ton, and a '45 Ford 1 1/2 ton civilian truck with the same ugly green paint on the engines. From what I heard there were a lot of engines slated for war service that were turned over to regular production and thus new vehicles got that light green engine. If anyone else can shed some more light on this, I'd certainly appreciate it.

Thanks to all who contributed ideas for the colors. My 45 is all pieced out and 99% primed. Brakes replaced, all four shocks re-furbished, 2 exhaust valves replaced, frame painted ford original (black), ready to paint the engine and transmission this weekend (dark blue), and stab it into the truck. I'll try to get some pictures after next week on board. It's been a real fun project. I've only owned this truck for 37 years. About time it started to look better.
