ok yall i posted on the 04-08 section but they didnt have a cluse so ill ask yall i got a 2004 new body with a bw4406 t case that has internal problems now would it be the same as a 00f150 bw4406 ??? thanks yall
Borg Warner 4406 was used in the F150- light F250 starting in 1997 for several years. Same "basic" unit, but i would assume a newer yer might have some internal improvements. If your looking to switch the unit, it should work. If you mixing and matching internal parts, there will be some differences.
So all the lights are functioning, and the front driveshaft turns when enguaged. I bet you have a bad lockout hub on either the RF or LF. Those things go bad all the time. They can be tough to diagnose. If you just pull the hub and bearing assemblies off i bet you find that on one side or the other the little engaument teeth are rounded off and you will see all kinds of little metal fragments in there.
the bw 4406s are the same 97-98, however they did make improvements 99+. all the 4406s have sincros that go bad especially if used neglectfully. mine in my 97 blew the planitary drive apart and left me stranded, a used one cost me $300 with warranty from a local salvage yard. whatever you do replace the t-case or have it repaired asap, because if the same happans to yours, you have no foward or reverse movement of the truck.
yes, the transfer case is your problem. AS mentioned earlier, you do not have ANYTHING in the wheel hub to go wrong. If the drive shaft does not turn, the transfer case is the problem, if the DS is turning and the axle is not, the vacuum cylinder on the PUMPKIN is the problem.
