Hi everyone. I just got a 95 F250 4x4 PSD 5 speed. The person before me put a dana 60 front on it.
I am having a friends shop go through the truck and fix everything to make the truck right. The truck is in great shape but it pushing 15 years so it probably needs some attention.
After tightening, adjusting, lubing, sealing, everything that was needed, he noticed a grinding sound from the transfer case. I did notice that the truck was really reluctant to be happy in 4x4. After some diagnosis and running on the rack the T-Case is making a really bad noise.
Would you say that its one of the weaker points on this truck? There is 140,000 miles on it and it has seen some towing.
Does anyone know of a direct replacement that is a good stout unit? Or should I go with a rebuilt/reman OEM unit?
They don't have a bad reputation. Unless you plan to badly abuse it, I think you will be fine putting the same unit back in it. That's what I would do.

I think that is what I will do. I can get a remanned one with warranty and put it in.
