The other night I took the truck for a drive after finally getting the glow plugs working. When I tried to get up to speed the transmission wouldn't shift, I figured since it was about 10 degrees It might need to warm up some so I drove slow for a while. Well it still wouldn't shift so when the engine got warmed up I just mashed the pedal and when it got to around 2800 rpms it would shift. Its like that for every gear, it won't shift until the engine is screaming, even when your going downhill. As soon as I tap the brake it downshifts fairly hard. Anyone know what this means?
It was the first time I drove at night with it so I had to use the lights. They seemed to be screwed up someway, when I turn them on both the turn signal arrows in the dash light up like I have flashers on. I though maybe that had something to do with it.
Going to need to know some more info on your truck. If it's an E4OD, then the lights not working right can affect the tranny. (Particularly the brake lights.)
You will have the C6 transmission. The engine injector pump is at the front of the engine and down in the V. On the drivers side of it there is a small vacuum valve (VRV) which should have two small rubber vacuum pipes connected to it. Check that both these pipes are connected, may have been pulled off during glowplug installation. Also check that they are not kinked/crushed/damaged.
Also the metal kickdown rod comes up from the transmission and connects to the throttle linkage at the engine, check that this is still connected.
