Starting to wire the '55 (12V) and would like recommendations for horns. Doesn't have to be stock or stock looking, just sound good...loud but not obnoxious. I'm using smooth inner fenders and have good mounting space.
Hey Jack, I got a pair of electric horns off a Porsche at U-Pull-It that I'm not going to use. They are electric trumpets hi/lo, some French brand. If you're interested let me know. They are "authoritative".
Jack, ford has always had a nice set of horns & they sound nice too.
you can find them any where the name on them is Fiamm, they are
a hi & lo combo.you can find them at any pull a part & they are not expensive

I always liked the sound of my 90 Eldo horns, so when I junked the car, the horns were some of the things I took for the truck. They are a nice compact set of electric hi/low.
I also added an oogah horn on its own switch just for fun.
Heck, I love my chrome set I got from Harbor Freight. Whole kit was on sale for $9.99 including the relays. Had one set on my 54 for over 5 years now, still sound good. They are chromed plastic (like that they won't rust out) and they sound pretty good. Are they original? No, but for the price they look and work fine for my needs. http://www.harborfreight.com/2-piece...set-99911.html
