Anyone have a good write up?

I want to do the EBPV delete on my 99 F250 PSD 4x4 and was jus wondering if anyone had a good write up on how to do it? I prefer my high idle position on my chip rather than that loud hissing. Any advice would help. Thank you

No write up but it's really not bad. You have to pull the turbo and pedastal. Might as well rebuild it all when it's out! Cut out the ebpv itself or wire it open. If you cut it out, you will need to weld up the bushing where the ebpv shaft goes through the housing. Next remove the guts out of the pedastal except the solenoid. Then get a 3/8 pipe tap and plug and plug the hole where the actuator passes through the pedastal housing. Then reinstall the pedastal and turbo. I didn't hook up the plug to the solenoid so it couldn't try and actuate. Only thing it does is through a soft code. Tell ya what, if you want clay sells a ebpv delete pedastal or you could just unplug the ebpv solenoid.

You can get an outlet without the EBPV and a non-EBPV pedestal as well. But you can gut them yourself... like David was saying, it's pretty easy. With the outlet if you don't just wire it open, you have to grind the heads off of the rivets the hold the flapper to the shaft. Once you get it apart, plug the shaft hole with a 3/4" freeze plug (pretty sure... take the housing in when you buy it). As for the pedestal, I can't remember if it was a 1/4" or 3/8" NPT plug that fit (David said 3/8" so I'd go with that), but just take the gutts out of the pedestal and then drill and tap the hole that the actuator arm came out of. Put your NPT plug in after you clean it out really good and then put it all back together! Leave the solenoid disconnected and you'll be good... it'll throw a soft code, but no CEL.

Dang, David... I reread your post again and I pretty much said the same thing. I used a freeze plug on the outlet where the shaft came out and that worked really good.

So if I understand right i can wire the arm open for the time being until I have time to tear it apart or get a new pedestal?

Yup! Wire it open with some tie wire and disconnect the solenoid in the base of the pedestal and it's dead.

It's just a connector... un-hook it and drop it in the valley.

Not a problem... make sure to take the pictures we never did and make the thread you wish you had when you went into it. I've done several of those!
