I wouldnt think which color spring he installed could be the problem but I could be wrong. His truck ran great for 25 miles and then started stumbling. If the spring is installed wrong or cocked wouldnt he have the problem all the time. Correct me if i'm wrong. What about the EOT sensor? If thats bad or going bad wouldnt that cause fueling and timing issues? Doesent the EOT tell the PCM how to schedule fuel?
Darn, looks like you beat me to it! I was going to suggest the engine oil temperature sensor in the HPOP reservoir. I've had issues with mine in the past and these symptoms don't match exactly, but have some similarity. Threw in a new EOT sensor and it was all good again. May be worth a try.
Ok, correct me if im wrong and I dont have my truck in front of me to look at and wont for another 2 months but the 2 gauges on the right are tranny temp (useless) and water temp. The 2 on the left are fuel and oil. Now the oil gauge just shows that you pressure when eng is running, I didnt think it tells you the temp of the oil...someone correct me if im wrong.
My truck would not act up this morning. I was hoping it would.
Before I even started it I hooked up the AE and looked at things.
No codes except for P0541 and P0640. E99s didn't have an AIH
and I am running a 2001 PMT1 PCM so I get the AIH codes.
EOT was 37.4°
AIT was 40°
MAP 12.2 PSI
EBP 12.3 PSI
Ambient BARO pressure at this elevation (5000 ft) is about 12.2 PSI so
comparing MAP to EBP seems to verify that the MAP sensor is good, at
least with KOEO.
KOEO Test Passed
Vehicle Voltage 12.1
Vehicle Reference Voltage 5.1
Buzz Test Cold - OK
Not much else to look at with KOEO.
Watching my GPR LED I even timed the release of the GPR. 1 min 57 seconds.
Turned the key to start and it fired right up and idled and revved as
it usually does when cold. No sign of my intermittent problem.
Switched tuner to High Idle and it held at 1200 RPMS. Was just a bit
rough but smoothed out as it warmed up. When I was having idle and
rev problems last Thursday it wouldn't even react to the High Idle tune.
Took it for a drive and it ran great. AE showed nothing unusual.
ICP and Duty Cycle was normal.
EOT kept climbing until it was within a degree or two of my coolant temp.
When my after market coolant temp said 195° AE saw E0T at 193°.
As soon as I got back I ran:
KOER - Passed (Except for the 2 AIH codes)
CCT - Passed
CCRV was good
I knew is wasn't going to find anything as soon as it fired up and idled right.
Next time I get this problem I'm going to shut it down and hook up the AE
and check things before and after I restart it.
Like last Thursday I let it sit for a couple of hours and it started and ran fine.
