So what's a class B for?

Exclamation What is a Class B for ?

I can answer that since I currently hold a Class B license.

Class B license is for straight trucks (example: Dump trucks, cement mixers, & box trucks) with or without a trailer (for a trailer you need a combination endorsement) & buses (example: school bus or passenger bus).
If you have the combination endoresment you can tow a trailer that is under 10k pounds (if you have a Class B [Class A is above 10K pounds).

For buses: If you drive a school bus you need a school bus endorsement.
If you drive a passenger bus (if have more than 15 passengers including the driver) you need a passenger endorsement.

I hope that answers your question,

KBJ

It was a rhetorical question.

What the heck is a combination endorsement?

The combination endorsement certifies that you're able to tow a trailer (or a similar vehicle) commericially.

Wouldn't that be a class A cuz there is no "combination endorsement"?

Class A has a mandatory combination & air brake endorsements. If you can't handle that big ol' trailer or you fail the air brake test you WILL fail the Class A test.

They are NOT endorsements.

Endorsements are:
Hazardous Material (H)

Tank Vehicle (N)

Passenger Bus (P)

Doubles or triples (T)

School Bus (S)

Air Brake is a Restriction

You're right they're not.

There is no such thing as a combination or air brake endorsement.

You're right that if you don't pass the combination test you can't get a classs A but you can still get a class A if you don't take or fail the air brakes test. You will just end up with a restricted class A.

I took an eye test. Does that mean I have an eye endorsement?

Glad to see you made it back to the thread.

How did I forget anything?

Could you please explain what a class B is for?

I would have thought you of all people would know what a classs B is:

Class B - Single vehicle over 26,000 lbs GVWR with vehicle in tow 10,000 lbs GVWR or less.

just google and you can find it.

So which class would someone need to drive a flatbed with a GVWR of 80,000 with no trailer?

If this is a trick question, I don't know.

If it's not a trick question, it's a class B.

Class a is combination gross over 26,000 with trailer over 10,000 lbs
class b single vehicle over 26,000 lbs not towing over 10,000
class c single vehicle less than 26,000 not towing over 10,000 ( typically for 16 or more passengers or hazardous materials.
