2004 f-150,Gas cap lid broke few months back and now opens and closes freely while going down rd.I asked coulpe weeks back on here and was told about a spring accesable from rear fender well that when replaced would fix problem.Took truck for tune up to shop i,ve used for 15 years and fella says he cannot find any signs of where spring goes or where it went says only ideas he had was to order one from ford.Im disabled and can drive exc.but not able to climb down under vechicle.Does this sound right to ya,ll or did my mechanic miss this one,has always done me my truck and expedition right over the years.Thanks,Paul

mine just broke too. Trying to find a Bully chrome locking one, but nobody carries them n store for post 2003 F150s. The whole replacement assembly costs about $30 from the dealer, but I dont know if that comes with a color matched door. While I'm searching for the locking door Im using velcro tape to keep it shut
If you google search "F150 fuel door broken", you will find pictures of the replacement process for the door.

 

AKA ROTTEN Did you ever find an answer for this? Mine is broken and I would like to know as well. I know this is a really old post I was just curious if you ever found an answer.
