So as not to highjack another thread I have some questions regarding the dampner on my truck. Have owner since September last year and the vibrations at idle seem to be increasing. Recently switched to T6 oil which is the only change. Feels like its pulsing and goes away by half when I put the truck in neutral. Only reall feel it at idle but I can feel in pedels and seat.
I tend to be a little (ok alot) OCD about stuff on my truck but am concerned about the torsional vibration issue with the dampner. I'm pulling my turbo this weekend for a rebuild so now is the time to do any other stuff needed.
Several guys have reported significantly reduced vibration with both the fluiddamper and ATI. Neither of them are very cheap and the internet is full of opinions on which is better than the other and why. The short version is, the ATI is lighter weight but still uses rubber so it will wear out at some point. The fluiddamper is heavier (about the same as stock though) but should last forever.
Probably will just go back with a stock one. This one lasted 200k anyway.
Just went out and looked at dampner. The rubber is pooched out all the way around. Not flat and even with metal. I saw where one guy replaced his cause of that. Is that really a big deal? Could that mean its beginning to fail?

Well agree with changing your(harmonic balancer)H.B. if you feel that it is bad and doesn't look right. But I would not go back stock I seen guys that went with the Fluiddamper and see the differents in their AE readings just from the Fluiddamper. So there are many benfits to going with a Fluiddamper and you will never need another H.B. And it will help save on bearing wear too. And in my opinion it is the best H.B. on the market. Just my 2 cents.
Also if you have 200k on the motor and you are going to change the H.B. you may as well change the LPOP.
