I just got the truck, very clean with 110,000 and it has a vibration at idle. It idles at approx 700 rpm. The vibration clears up at 1000-1200rpm. I know it is hard to diagnose a problem without seeing it, but does this sound familiar?
thanks
anyone in san antonio you would recommend look at this
I believe Storm is from Austin. Not too long of a drive. You might contact him. I would be interested if you ever found anyone in SA that you liked. I am in CC.
I have an '06 that has a vibration at idle as well...especially if the pickup is in gear and I'm holding it at a dead stop. In the cab it sounds like its coming from under the hood, outside it sounds like the bed is coming off, and underneath I can't tell, it is coming from everywhere it seems like. I started a thread on this a few days ago. I haven't had much time to look more since then. Mine is getting worse and driving me nuts, it even does it going down the road now...I hope we can both get it figured out.
HAve you checked out your exhaust system for loose connections. If you have a loose connection between pipes/turbo you should see some smoke on the pipe. You will need a mirror to look on the back side of pipes.
I didnt notice any ehaust leak. I disconnected the exhaust behind the downpipe, and it still made the same vibration.
A mechanic I know checked the TSB's and said the carrior bearing is known to cause a vibration, wouldnt that be only when I am driving, and not stopped?
Idle is approx 750rpm vibration goes away at approx at 950-1100
There's a large Ford truck dealer in kyle/buda that has good tech's. Have you checked the truck for codes? Almost sounds like an injector not quite firing right to me, but it could be a lot of things. It wouldn't be the carrier bearing if it happens while you're still as the CB supports the drive shaft. Might be A/C related also.
I had my turbo replaced a few months ago and when they put it back on I had a horrible vibration. It did it at idle and was worse at idle while in drive. Try putting your hand on the turbo or intake and see if it vibrates "alot". I brought my truck back and they fixed it. Problem was one of the bolts on the rear of the turbo mount was only finger tight. All is well and no more vibration. Good luck. ~Brad
I'm suspecting the same on mine. Started after a new turbo and getting worse. Its not in the exhaust and only happens once it comes up to temp. Its sort of a vibration/hum - the sound will come fluctuate up/down a bit while idling. I can feel it a bit in the pedal while driving, but hard to hear it for sure over the other road noises.
