'Tis time to get this done... my stock clutch is starting to really hate life and has slipped a couple times on me. I have a brand new Valair kevlar/ceramic clutch kit, and I borrowed a trans jack. The base on the trans jack is only about a foot square at best, and I'm not 100% sure it will even lift high enough to support my trans without blocking it up some.
Any tips or pointers for making sure the trans is supported well? I was going to have the shop do it but at almost $600 for just labor I think I'll pass...
When I changed my clutch I dropped both driveshafts at the t case, unbolted the trans crossmember, slid it all back far enough to access the clutch/flywheel, and supported the front of the trans with a floor jack. Worked pretty well I reckon.
Two floor jacks is what I used. Took it out with the t case on. Put it back with two separate. A tranny jack would have been excellent and probably a little safer but went with what I had lol. Its not to bad a job really. And you'll love that clutch btw. A little grabby but nothing like the full ceramic.
And for the record I'd separate the two before. Would have made it alot easier to maneuver under the truck. Also the top trans bolts are pita to get to. I made a wrench when I had pulled the motor which came in handy.

I forgot what I dropped in there last time. A washer or something.

Yeah, dont remember, anyways, I took off the side inspection covers for the PTO's after it was drained and just ran a strap though there to tie it to the jack, that worked really really well.
Oh, the spacer for my short throw fell down in there. I just had it to grab it and it slipped from my fingers and fell inside the case. DOH!
