I need to flush my transmission. 06 F350 . I asked the service departement at my local dealership if they did the heated flush and he said he had never heard of a heated flush, they do a chemical flush. These transmissions on these newer trucks are controlled with a thermostat from what I understand correct? Dont they NEED a heated flush? The service advisor at this dealership is blowing smoke up my a$$ from what it sounds like to me. This would be 5 Star Dealerships in Aberdeen ,WA. I am of the opinion after talking to this service advisor that I should NEVER bring my truck there. Am I right?
I believe that that "service writer" doesn't know stuff from shinola.... but I bet the actual TECH knows it's a heated flush!
Agreed. I wouldn't call it a bad dealer because of the service advisor. What's important is the tech's they have that care for the job. IMO its very simple to just drain or drop the pan and replace the filter that's up front on the passenger side. If you feel more comfortable do it a few times in a week to get it all out. Make sure to use Mercon SP or LV only.
the guys are right. also, u have the right to walk in and speak to a tech instead of a service advisor, jus to get a tech point of view. i wouldnt rule anything out until i get all the ducks in a row. then i'd pop em one by one wif my rifle. lol.
so i changed the filter and 8qts. of fluid 4 times in a few weeks to get the most out of my redneck trans. flush seems to be fine. My delaership here didnt know about a heated flush either. learned that on here from the amazing FTE crew.
What I've noticed around here in the last few years is the service advisors are now mostly women who have never done an oil change, let alone a heated trans flush. Back in the good old days, service advisors were techs who had done their time, and finally got to quit pulling wrenches. I first noticed it about 20 years ago when I had my Areostar in to get the warped heads repaired (wife ran it out of coolant when it popped a frost plug). It was still burping air into the cooling system, I asked her if the machine shop they'd sent it to had magged the heads, she didn't have a clue what I was talking about. 5 years later she was the receptionist, I think she's selling insurance now...
