Many people here have used the gold for hundreds of thousands miles with no problem.
.
I agree with the above
I used to think the same as a few folks that the Ford Gold coolant was the Root of the oil Cooler failure
Not after I changed my oil cooler out then cut it open casting sand got it
Although I have seen a few oil coolers that looked like Ford Gold Slime But hard to say if the Coolant was pushed beyond its service life or an Incorrect mix design
And to the OP 210 EOT is nothing to even be worried about
Heres a couple numbers to Keep in mind
the 6.0 will defuel at
221 ECT
253 EOT
95mph
Once you start getten an ECT up around 218* you just want to keep an Eye out for the Fan at 218* or close to that Fan Will come on andCool things down my truck At 218* ECT my Fan will hit 1500-1800 RPMs and will drop temps fast
I would try the back flushing like others have recommended. Look up the coolant flushing procedure, I think its in the Tech folder. You can just about isolate each component in the cooling system and back flush. I think the key is removing the EGR cooler port from the top of the oil cooler. A 3/4" o.d. hose fits perfectly into the outlet of the oil cooler and you flush away!

Same thing hapened here, replaced the coolant and thermostat, only flushed it with water, no backflush and now my EOT stays around 210, 213 on flat highway. Never had that problem before. I was scared a bit my EOT was going to 220 uphill. My ECT stays between 186 and 192, never higher.
Actually, my EOT showed in the 210 just after coolant replace. Some talk about air in the system??. I have been driven over a 1000 miles now.
My next plan is to go to Alaska, should I replace the oil cooler and EGR cooler??.
I still have to go for another 4000 miles over next month, should I worry about my POORStroke

So your saying that you have A 20* SPREAD all the time Now
Does your gauge read the same temps after a 12 Hour cold soak?????????
If you truely have a Bad Oil Cooler I would be very careful Being its an 06 they have the square Egr cooler and those ones SUCK and your Definatly Pushing it with 20* diffrence
If it was my truck I wouldnt take a chance on any out of town trips till that oil coolers changed
And If you drove it for 1K all the air is out its NOT a possibility the air purges fairly fast on these Did you notice that little Hole in the thermostate it there to Bleed air out
OK, I guess things are going bad, I am 1500 miles from home. My cold soak temp are the same ETO, ECT. Yes i have 20 to 30 delta all the time. Why would it be bad being a square cooler, i am under 220F?
I am pretty sure there was a hole in the T stat, I bought it from the PartsGuy,.
Now in Ketucky, going to Lousiana tomorow.

.
The Square EGR coolers have a High fail rate
The round Egr coolers have better guts they are already built like a Upgraded EGR Cooler from BPD
Its not about a maximum temp the EGR cooler can withstand
ITS the fact that once you get over the 15* diff between them the oil cooler is plugged on the coolant side and wont let any coolant threw to the egr cooler therfore the egr cooler basicaly melts the soilder joints inside the egr cooler and fails.
If the Oil Cooler wont flow enough coolant to cool the Oil it definatly wont flow enough coolant to cool the egr cooler
There plumbed in a series Oil Cooler first then coolant flows to the egr cooler
Do you think the Ford Dealer can do a good Flush on it? Got to get something done, I am on the road. The highest it went today was 222, mostly stayed at 210, 213.
I am in Alabama, going south. I wonder how much the dealer charges for an oil cooler change.
I am about 180 miles from Powerstrokehelp.com. He has some info on Youtube and on the Web. I will give him a call either tomorow or Monday. If it sounds good, i will try to get there. He install bullet proof or he deletes, we will see what he say. He is in Georgia and I am in Alabama.
