Don't mean to get OT, but you guys who have annual/biennial smog checks... what are your thoughts of returning to stock periodically? Does it get old real quick, esp if a one-man show?
Does that CAT/DPF gasket still work after a few installations if you're doing a DPF-delete only? How long do you run it stock before the test(s)?
Update. Did the job in 2 hours. I'm actually shocked everything went pefectly well without swearing, bloody knuckles a sledgehammer and then a trip to the muffler shop. I didn't even put the truck on a jack or lift. Cannot underestimate the use of the PB Catalyst break free spray. The rubber hangers were the hardest part until I sprayed them too. The new pipe went on in 15 minutes.
Thanks to all for your tips and comments. Definately helps to know what you are doing ahead of time. Now I have to figure out where to put the DPF/CAT. I'm sure I'll need it someday.
BTW, gotta love the hair dryer sound out of the pipe. Very weird..

Yeah, I don't care for that sound, sounds like a jet airplane taxiing. If you find a good muffler solution please let us know. Several people on here have mentioned it. How do you like the way it sounds when it starts, whole different truck.
I had previously replaced the exhaust with a Banks DPF - back pipe with twin stainless tips. That got rid of the "muffler" and the sound was just the same. Last week I pulled the DPF and Cat, and put in the two piece pipe from AFR. I have an Edge 85700 Race tuner, and after re-programming for deleting the DPF, it's really not that much louder inside the truck, but outside it sounds like a big air compressor with a huge leak. Big hair dryer sound as described above, sums it up. 2008 F250 6.4L.
