engine stalling out F350 7.3 Diesel

when driving engine stalls, tach drops to 0 but at times engine is still running. We put on obd it shows that there are no codes.

I'm not a tech, but a buddy had a similar problem and it turned out that he had not replaced the fuel filters since he bought the truck used. Just a question, but when was the last time the fuel filter was changed? If it has been awhile, you may want to change it (them).

It might be the screen in the tank is getting clogged. How does the fuel filter look? And do you have a bunch of junk in the bottom of the fuel bowl? And how many miles are on the truck?

CPS may be gone. Need to scan motor to know for sure. You can spend a lot of money chasing a ghost until a scan leads you to the problem.

If it was raining and wipers were on there was a short that also caused this.

Bad oil, IPR, ICP all can also cause this. UVCH, PCM............................................... .

I own and love my AE scanner. I hook up to my laptop and can watch the motor run and see all sensors working. Without it a diesel is too expensive to work on. I started scanning local trucks at $50 just to pay for the unit and now am working on getting the software for Chevy and Dodge too. If you get it scanned and have some numbers to post let me know and I can walk you thru it.

I was going to ask where all these... Comments came from...

If the Tach is dropping to 0 and the truck is still running I am confused.

But if the truck is dieing and will fire right back up I would have to say its a CPS...

I was having a similar issue once and it turned out to be a loose ipr nut. I would start with that since it is easiest to check. Then the CPS (camshaft position sensor), then UVHC's. I would bet it does not have the. 50 cent mod.
