5th wheel prep package

I just took delivery of a 2012 F350 - I have the 5th wheel prep package - My question is - does this come with a ball for the goose neck hitch with this package or do you have to go buy one?

You have to purchase separately. FORD calls it a Gooseneck Hitch Kit...

I ordered the prep Kit, and the 5th wheel hitch.
Hitch just came orderable (as an addition), in 2011 Job 2...

I suspect it's not even orderable (yet).
So... Need to go buy one....

Just bought the kit. Comes with the ball and the safety chain hooks. $ 250 from the dealer.

Did anyone ever find a 3" ball that fits? There was someone asking around on here about that a while back. I know all the standard ones are 2-5/16".

For about $1500 you can have a fifth wheel hitch and a ball hitch if you buy the B&W Companion hitch.

Yes. The factory system is made by Reese and they make an under bed kit that can be retrofitted to work as the factory one does. They have them on etrailer as well as many other web sites.

the under the bed kit only works on a 8' bed I beleive,,, I tried to retro fit and it was not avail, the drop in 5th hitch cost 1000.00 plus, very expensive but I like the clean look, I have the 2 rails bolted into my 2011, very ugly thats why I have a tonneau cover to cover it up....

No, there is an elite under rail bed kit for the 6.5 bed. Reese part number 30126. Fifth Wheels - Reese

Under-Bed Rail and Installation Kit for Reese Elite Series 5th Wheel and Gooseneck Trailer Hitches Reese Fifth Wheel Installation Kit RP30126

The 5th wheel AND gooseneck, Reese 30138-26, only fits the 8 foot bed.
Reese Elite Series Under-Bed Gooseneck Trailer Hitch for Ford Super Duty - 25,000 lbs Reese Gooseneck RP30138-26

If you're only looking for the 5th wheel the 30126 will be fine on a short bed.

Reese does offer a 3 inch ball that fits this application - I thought all goose neck trailers were standard with 2 5/16 inch though.

I also have the 5th wheel prep package on my 2012 F350 Diesel and are looking at upgrading from a travel trailer to a 5th wheel. My question is can any 5th wheel hitch with the proper rating for the trailer be installed onto the prep pins, eg. Huskey, Reese, Easy-Rite, etc.
I am new at 5th wheel towing so I hope I have worded my question correctly.

You need to get a 5th wheel that is made to be installed on the Ford Factory Prep Package.

Reese makes one (they make the Ford factory 5th wheel also)

B&W makes one: Companion
