5th wheel prep package
The specs are dry weight only on their site. I'm guessing with 3600+ dry it will be close to 4k loaded with some in the tanks. You'll be over the tire ratings and the axle rating. Not saying it can't be done. Just something to consider. When you load your garage, you'll unload the pin some so that will help. Airbags will be a must at that weight. With my Road Warrior 30C I'm at 2800-3200 depending on how the garage is loaded and the water tank empty. Running with the garage empty and the water full I'd be pretty maxed out.
Whoa whoa whoa he said 3,600 lbs carrying capacity (i.e. GVWR minus dry weight), not pin weight. Even if you bump the trailer weight up to 15k (easy to do), 20% is still 3,000.
Yeah, a dually would be perfect, but it sounds like he should just come under the wire with his SRW's official ratings, so I'm not sure it's really reckless to pull it with his 350 SRW.

That trailer, when loaded is going to be exactly 18K according to the numbers he posted. 20% would put him at 3600 lbs on the pin. 18K trailer will also take him over the 23.5K GCWR.
Guys, you're not paying attention. The dry pin weight is listed on Raptor's website. Dry is 3650. Fill your water tanks and gear up and your at almost 4k. No need for equations. It's listed and what's listed is ALWAYS very light.
To the OP, check out my floorplan... It's right at the limits of a 350 SRW and works very well. (Unless you need a 12' garage...) It also has the Titanium front end so there is more of the trailer over your truck and less behind it. Combine that with a short bed and you have a very maneuverable combo with a shorter tow length and easier in and out of sites.

I appreciate all the great information you guys provided on my request for 5th wheel towing. I had only placed a deposit on the 365 LEV and now have enough information. I have decided to downsize the RV to the match the truck to trailer. Thanks for all your help on this and drive safe.
Sure we are. It doesn't matter what that 3635 consists of. It can be fresh water, black water, propane, or ATV's. The GVWR for that trailer is 18K based on their numbers. The hitch weight can change depending on if he goes 15%, 20% or 25%, but Raptor is saying don't exceed 3650 by listing that number.

Good luck on whatever you buy. The ride is the best part....
Ok, I'll agree that it isn't the limit, but anything you add won't neccessarily increase the hitch weight. That 3650 equates to 25% of the ship weight. Loading weight behind the axle will reduce the hitch weight. Since it is a toy hauler, they are designed with a heavier empty pin weight with the understanding that a relatively large amount of weight will be placed behind the axle. So, we do understand and you can't make a blanket statement that anything you add will increase the hitch weight.
Right. I said that before. Adding garage weight unloads the hitch some, but you can't count that. Will you take something in the garage every time you camp? How about the ride home from the dealer? Will you bring 1-2k pounds to lighten your hitch up to be within specs? You have to go by what it weighs with the garage empty because sometimes you tow that way. Also, the dry weight is before you add any options. Most guys with haulers have a generator. Some add a bedroom ac. And, like I said, two out of three tanks are usually in front of the axles. So, I'm thinking even with something in the garage it will never be less that 3650 and probably will be more. I was quite surprised how little effect on pin weight loading my garage had. Putting a 1000 lb atv back there only took a couple hundred lbs off my pin and a full water tank can more than overwhelm that difference.
Hi everyone. I just joined this board and have a question. I just ordered a 2017 F350 Lariat and I am having the 5th wheel prep package installed. I currently drive a Ram 2500 and want to take my 18K Pullrite slider hitch out of the old truck and install in the Ford. Do I just need to order the Pullrite rails or can anyone assist in telling me what I need to order to make this work?
Thanks for all the help and glad to Almost be a Ford Truck Owner.

I do believe there is a specific lower that can be swapped on to your existing Pulrite slider to work with the Ford 5th prep. Just beware that the 2017 Fords are very tall and the Pulrite slider is a very tall hitch. You may end up being nose high with the combo. Congrats on the new truck and welcome to FTE!
