Upholstery ,Carpet, and Upholstery Dyeing
There have been some minor things bothering me on my 77 F-250
1. The seats (pictured here) have some holes in them. The seats are perfect everywhere except the drivers seat. What would be a good way to repair the rips pictured? 2. The rear soft head thing (pictured here) I attempted to paint it but as you can see it didn't work to well. How would I paint that thing? Does that "vinyl paint" work? 3. The carpet (pictured here) The carpet is perfect except for the drivers side. Would it work to patch it without noticeable seams? Where would I get good carpet? All I can find is more like felt. Any suggestions would be helpful.

I can't help you with you questions, but I'd also be interested in how well that vinyl dye works. Can you use it to change the color of a dark item? (ie: dye a black dash pad red?) Or will it only work on light colored items if I want to change the color?

1. The seat is worn out. The material and stiching is ripping. The bad sections could be replaced, but you might as well do the entire thing, by that time... Might be cheaper and more cumfy to get a seat from a '96 or older pickup - it's a bolt in swap.
2. Paint won't stay on a flexible surface. The dye works good if you are making it darker. But you will have to remove all the paint before you dye it...
3. The carpet is worn out too. I wouldn't bother patching it. Find a replacement molded carpet. The FTE online store should have some, or check on other sites, catalogs and parts stores. A molded carpet that covers from the firewall to the rear of the cab should be around $125. You also can buy carpet that just covers from firewall the seat (not under seat) for about $75.

The only section of the seat with any problem is the section in the picture.(The rest of the seat is like this) I was trying to avoid paying 100+ dollars for carpet because again, the only bad section is the one in the picture. (The rest of the carpet is like this)
