yeah i didnt think they cam from the factory with 365 either, i think your right more like 100 hp less, my 390's running 375 hp look at the bottom of my post for specs, oh yes nice looking truck to mine looks just like it but metallic blue.
My 88 EFI engine in My 79 Bronco puts out around 185 hp to the rear wheels, when worked to an equation, it works to around 260-265 hp at the crankshaft,
I think the high compression 460's of the early 70's had around 350, and when they tuned them to run on unleaded in the mid 70's they dropped to about 220 HP and about 360 ft-lbs. That's about what my Lincoln has, and I think that the trucks were similar.
Ummm.....no. Actually the pre 72 460's came with 10.5:1 and a decent cam, etc. and were rated at 365 hp at 4600 RPM's and 500 ft. lbs of torque at 2800 RPM's. That's straight from the factory.
All through out the 70's the outputs were different, ranging from 200-230 HP after the switch to the low compression heads and backing off the timing. But I also believe that they tested the HP different before 72 using the old SAE Gross instead of Net. showing inflated HP numbers comparatively.
Correct. They did switch to net hp rating instead of gross. However, the old high compression 460's made a ton more power than the smog-crippled post 72 models did.
Yeah, I didn't mean to make it sound like they didn't get any more power, but it would probably be closer to 295 HP net if you figure 80% of gross vs. net. I got the 80% value from http://neptune.spacebears.com/opine/horsepwr.html but that's just a rough estimate as there are many variables.
