Is this why cab corners rust out? Kinda strange to have this void here.

I usually find everything someone dropped in there over the 50+ years and a bunch of dirt. Coins, eye glasses, nails, radiator caps, gas caps, food particles, tools. You name, I found it. I advise anyone messing around back there to make sure you clean it out good. If I am repairing the area I will actually put the garden hose down in there and let it run. Of course the rust holes usually provide an exit point. After that I wet vac the area and let dry. I have got many pounds of dirt out of those areas before. Good luck and have fun!

Most all cars and trucks have some kind of area like that of some sort where dirt and debris can collect and cause problems. There are small drain holes at the bottom of that pocket, but they quickly get clogged, then dirt and moisture can pack up against the metal and deteriorate it. With proper maintenance and cleaning, and making sure the drains stay clear, the cab corners would never rust out. For most old farmers, that was never anything they thought about or concerned themselves with. Cars and trucks just got old and rusty and that was a fact of life. Back then, the engines would fail long before the bodies fell apart. There are similar areas at the front lower cowl, too.

Im always worried sticking my had in somewhere like that.
Last thing I want to find is a rusty razor blade, a brown recluse, the T-Virus, or a needle.

With all the yellow jacket nests in mine, I am afraid to check most places.
