Ive got a leaky old 360 in my 74 F250 so im planning a rebuid but dont have a clue where to start I was looking at engine rebuild kits on the net.
but what should i get>? Rering kit piston complete kit? or just a gasket kit after all the truck does run great but i want to stop the oil leaks from messimg up my drive way and maybe have a bit of jam to it.
-another thing about the complete kits, what are the stock rod legths and bore etc.
lastly wheres the best place/company to get these kits from?
It all depends on what you want for performance and engine life. As you tear it down and inspect parts you'll answear your own question. Jegs or summit racing are good places for gaskets and parts.
I'm having a 390 built from scratch, and the guy is charging me About 15 hundred. I don't know what your budget is, how beat up the guts/block of your 360 are, or what build prices are in your area, but getting one built or buying a longblock might be easier. Just a thought.
Ya I'm not to sure what guys around here charge I'm going to look into it I don't think I'll do the 390 crank & rods kinda seems like a bit of work? Have any of you done this? If so what does it involve?
