UPDATE
so next step is to loosen AC compressor and remove the bracket. Guess I am now going to go with a vice grip. Never could get an open end wrench in at the correct angle to get a good bite.
I am now looking at an easily accessed HPOP with 196,xxx miles sitting right in front of me and thinking while I'm in it this far........ What do you guys think replace the HPOP even though it is good?

The 3 minutes it would have taken to remove the bracket first would have made access MUCH easier....
For the HPOP, it depends on what kind of ICP/IPR duty cycle you are seeing now. With stock sticks you may not see much improvement. If ya decide to upgrade later, only takes 20min's to yank an HPOP, including pulling the fuel bowl.
Want to do this mod on my early 99. What grinding are you guys talking about? Hearing you guys having problems makes me think twice about attempting this.
Not sure if everyone is aware of these spline sockets by Craftsman or not. They work amazing on just about all types of fasteners (6 point, 12 point, 4 point, 8 point). I bought a set of SAE and Metric for something like $15 a set.
I do wish they would make them in 1/4 drive as well!

E99, gotta grind on the d/s baby-butt, for fitting to be installed....

Jason, I have an e99 and the 15HPOP worked fine. But when I installed my T500 the engine came a live at middle to higher rpm's or say60 and beyond mph and I got just under 2 mpg better fuel mileage in 80e on the freeeway. So T500 makes a lot more difference in the e99 as the OP has. My 2cents. God bless, Chet
AC compressor and bracket off. Very simple removal. Also removed the bolt for the cover next to the rail plug. Lotsa room now.
After reading several posts on the HPOP. Think I'm just goona wait, and eventually re o-ring it when it begins leaking. Never lacked power, and extremely happy with stock performance.
Looking like I may have trouble getting the lines for the frx aligned properly to fit where they are supposed to, but maybe it will just take some arm power, just don't want to crack the plastic frx fuel pressure regulator.
I had to run mine over the top till I put on the updated turbo. I think that line should be a little longer for the E99 trucks. Good luck. I broke my plug loose with small cresent over the top and channel locks then used small wrench to take it all the way out. Didn't have to remove anything, passenger side.
