hey guys, for those that dont remember my previous post, had a complete fuel system replacement and oil cooler replacement last week
Just got the truck back and it had a faint squeal when i got on the gas hard after it was warmed up...called dealer and was able to stop by a few hours later, we couldnt get the squeal back
had the truck for a week, no problems, hooked up to my 32' enclosed, 10klbs loaded, truck got the squeal on hard acceleration, noticed high sustained turbo psi (30 while rpms were around 1300, 50mph no hills/wind)
talked to a freightliner mechanic while i was swapping trailer (same size and load) and he said the turbo hose may have a pin hole, should just expect crappy performance.
On the way back, turbo was almost pegged on 30, low rpms, low throttle imput, gas mileage was at 6.7 when was at 9+ the way down
had 2 DPF cleans on the way down, 9....yes 9! on the way back up!
What should i expect from the dealer tomorrow?
edit** this was a 3hr trip one way, flat coastal land, no wind/traffic, open highway for 98% of the trip
checked all i really could and cant find anything obvious to me anyway
it was first a squeal, almost like a belt...but not, on acceleration, would last for about 200rpm
after we got off the freeway and started through the neighborhood, it was a pretty constant, just just on acceleration but cruising at 30-40mph had it
i say squeal because it sounded like it had friction involved with it, if that makes any sense. it just didnt sound like air alone. I tried taking a video with my phone but it would really show up

Sometimes an alternator will give a squeal like that when it's starting to head south. Something else to consider.
just got back from a test drive, tech said he thinks the exhaust is cracked before the dpf and the turbo is lacking back pressure? how could that be if many of you remove the dpf unless the tuner programs it for less pressure???
anyway, he said he feels its that because the avg mpg (which i never have up because its depressing) was reading 24 steady at 45mpg, reset it and was at 18mpg at 70! he said the exhaust is pretty much open from the downpipe back and bypassing the dpf/cat
regardless, he wasnt sure and needed to do a smoke test, they were pretty backed up and im on call this weekend, so i wasnt able to leave it. Will have to be on monday...guess ill suffer with more mpgs
