QTM: QT = Sand Cloth & Sand Vinyl - Ranger / M = Super Cab.
K = C6 Cruise-O-Matic.
13X: 13 = Ford 9" Rear Axle / 2.75-1 / non Limited Slip / 3,750 lb. Rear Axle Capacity / X = ? No such code, take another look-see. IT IS AN X,, clear as day,,, didn't know if that was for like P/S?
Note: FTE VIN decoders aren't worth TWO CENTS! Have multiple errors and omissions.
I looked in 5 different '73/79 truck catalogs, 1 car parts (Bronco) catalog, couldn't find X listed.
It might refer to P/S, but Ford usually used J for that purpose. It might refer to a tilt wheel. Hold the wheel with one hand, gently press the turn signal handle forward with t'other.
Little things like these are interesting when VIN tags have codes that aren't listed in the catalogs. Just like the "ford plant" code in the F750 thread. Wonder how many more things like this are out there? I'd like to see pics of the VIN plates. Kinda like the whole F13 code that no one seems to know what that is.
If I could post a picture,, I would! Clear as day,, X

Speaking of VIN's and unusual things, my recent discovery of the VIN on the frame had a little "Star" engraved right after the number. Any thoughts as to what that would have been for?

Mine has the same thing, an asterisk after the front frame VIN. On the hidden VIN the asterisk is at the beggining of the VIN.
I don't think the asterisk has any real significance.
