new brake calipers

i am in the process of installing new calipers, pads and rotors.

my question is since the calipers are new, do i have to pull the slide pins out and give them some grease or just install the new calipers as they are and maybe sevice the pins once a year or something like that after.

thanks in advance for the answers

did the caliper come loaded?cant hurt to check them and make sure if they are loaded, and if not they do need to be greased.I am sure you will find many recommendations here on a grease.I know ford calls for a non graphite based lube.I used permatex synthetic in green bottle. The mechanics at my local dealer said they use di- electric grease.Guzzle's web page has a great write up with pics on it.

yes i bought the calipers and they have everything except the pads, i noticed that one of the slide pin boots were not in correctly last night and so i pulled the pin out to fix the boot, there is a very light film of grese on there, i mean you can feel it and i know that you dont put alot on, so maybe the very light coating on the pins will be good. i dont want to over grase them. i will just eave them the way they are.

thanks

When I did my last brake job one of the pins on mine had seized and it was lubricated. I'd make sure it's well lubricated with the right kind

I had one froze up on my 2001 w/85,000 miles also. I don't know what the correct grease is. I used some synthetic Valvoline. And plenty of it. Not saying that's the recommended grease. That's just what I used.
