The dealer cleaned mine when they did new motor at 127,000 miles, it had a lot of build up. It was done with puddy knife. The tex stated they get alot of junk from bio. It had a tar like material build up!
I was curious if anyone had done this project or know of an easier way to clean it somewhat with chemicals rather than the big project?
There was a lot of soot build up when I did the egr delete so now I want to clean the intake manifold but looks like it is a major deal.
Am I being too **** at this point and let things be?? truck has around 46k miles.
I would x-nay any chemical's most are combustible and could cause damage to the engine. IMHO, At 46K i really don't think its worth it especially if the CCV is still intact. To get the intake out dont u have to remove the turbos, and i believe thats a cab off/up procedure.
on edit, I asked a tech thats a friend and apperantly it can be done cab on, but it's a royal PITA...
It will give you less resticked air flow. If mine had not been apart they would have not cleaned. Mine had a sticky film about 1/16" thick, almost like dried grease on a stove top!
