How to keep the PS pulley from turning while using a puller?

on my 300" six, I had to get this style of pulley puller to remove my power steering pulley.. there was NO way that I was going to get it off using a regular pulley (jaw type) puller, and almost destroyed the pulley in the process while trying it.

Any quality power steering pump pulley puller (dang a whole truck load of P's) should have a place for holding it with a wrench..
Put an old belt around the pulley and clamp the belt close to the pulley with vise grips.... use the vise grips as a handle..

With the proper tool you won't have a problem holding it. As everyone has said, it's on there! it will make one heck of a "pop" when it first starts to move, then lots of creaks and pops as it comes off.

X3 on the pictured tool. I bought one but you can rent them at your local parts store for like $30 bucks.

Yes the puller works great and it's a free rental at places like Autozone, so it is a no brainier for me
