Sometimes this 12v supply excites the alternator. I like excited alternators.

Here you go this is for a 65 but it should be the same or close to a 66. Hope it helps get the mystery problem solved.

Hey guys, sorry to bother. here is a pic of what I have hooked up now. still have alt light on. From the pic above mine does not look like it is hooked up correctly. The 2 black with yellow stripe to block along with wire from alt. From wiring diagram from above pic, it shows a wire from the silenoid to the terminal post.
Sorry for being a pain, wiring- Not my gig..
