What is my 49 F3 worth?

I have a 49 F3 in good running order. Flathead 6, 223 H series engine, 4 speed, step side box, 17" tires, all original mechanically. What is this unit worth if I sold it? $2500? Thanks for your input...

The sheet metal is straight, no major rust issues and I would give it an 8 of 10...

It's worth whatever someone is willing to give you for it. It's really hard to even give you a ballpark figure because you're not including a lot of important information with your question.

One major detraction with your truck, IMO, is the wheels and brakes. The wheels, if stock 17" are next to impossible to find someone to work on.

Ford two piece rims

The brakes are kind of hard to find parts for. If you can find a buyer willing to overlook these two problems, and the truck is as you describe $2500 might not too bad of a price to expect. You have to realize also even though your truck is in decent condition it's a big truck, it won't have the demand a smaller F-1 will have. Another big factor is location.

I posted this a while ago after some one posted a what's it worth question:

Take no offence but it is worth whatever you can get for it(what ever the market will bear)

It might help you to know that I paid 1100 for my F2 about six years ago. It had a running flattie V8, that needed a rebuild. I would say the market for these things isn't any better...slim

Thanks for the comments... and yes I should get those darn widow makers off of it and find something that is safer. Are there any 17" wheels that are one piece and will fit on my hubs bolt cirlce?

Yes, there are some but they're hard to find. Since at this point in time you don't have the minimum 25 posts you can't use the FTE search feature. You can however use Google to search FTE. Use the term truckdog, that's Stu our resident wheel expert and 17", you should be able to find all his posts about what wheels will work.

If you plan to keep the truck the best recommendation is to swap out a newer pre-'73 F-250 rear axle. There are plenty of discussions about that too. There was just one in the last two weeks, Stu and I both contributed to that discussion so you should be able to find it.

When doing your Google search I'd suggest using my whole user name that includes the 62563 zip code. The only one piece 17" wheels I know of are newer Dodge 3/4 ton, but they are much wider than your stock rims. There are 17.5" and 19.5" one piecers that would work, but would require a search. Bob's suggestion about the rear axle swap is the most common solution. Stu
