New to the site today, first post, longtime (1976) effie owner. I am currently in the early stages of a radical makeover of my 53, with a lot of required EVERYTHING modification. I would love a specific thread about fabrication tips & tricks.
A teaser...I bought a second 53 for the sheetmetal, as my project will require two trucks worth to accomplish. Also, new engine will be in the rear. Like I said, radical. More to follow....
P.S. I am using Solidworks CAD for the chassis design...

Welcome to the madness! Sound like you will fit in well... Rear engine truck... I will say your a darksider... What is your power plant?
We love pics on here so post up. Also will you add your location so we have an idea of where we are talking to you at. Solidwork is a great 3-D modeling software... Used it more then once... What version are you working with? I haven't used it in a long time since the only version I have is '98 and don't think it will run on the newer version of windows.
Moe, I use Solidworks 2010 running on a Win 7 64 bit Lenovo ThinkPad. As to your question about PP. I thought a long time about this, and finally decided to keep it all Ford and procurred a Taurus SHO with the Yamaha-designed 3.4L V8. As this is a front wheel drive car, the entire subframe was removed with engine/auto transmission intact. One of the bigger challenges is to change out the strut suspension and add an upper A arm instead. I will be designing/fabricating and entire new frame and dropping in a Fatman Fabricators IFS front end w/air suspension. I well get some photos up soon....
Hi Jeff, basically that is not at all impossible, computer aided design is being used extensively in manufacturing. I, myself use autocad and have designed several items that I'm using on my build. I guess, maybe this is what is being discusse above...'I should post' some of those things in "the fabrication thread?"
Above are just a couple of the things.
Never used the system myself but seen other guy`s use it a lot! please post more info
